5.8.3 Review of the requirements for information processing
The generative capabilities of our hypothesized "inner language" are likely responsible for the capability to generate new action sequences
- The generative capabilities are based on the ability to substitute codes in the "subject verb object" structure
- Such capabilities seem to extend to most species. The results for some of the imprinting experiments may be explained in this fashion.
It is not clear whether these same generative capabilities are involved in dreams
- If so, it would mean that pictures are stored in memory (as hypothesized in chapter II), and that these pictures can be combined and manipulated in some interesting ways.
- The pictures could be pixellated or vector graphic. The combinations could be collages or really novel editing combinations.
