Perceiving direction and working with the future for prediction and planning: a mirror to memory
This section explores the hypothesis that animals lower than us in the
evolutionary chain are capable of perceiving direction for the prey. A
second hypothesis is that animals routinely utilize prediction and
planning, i.e. work with the future.
- This hypothesis arose out of our account for perceiving direction and for
positioning, where
the actor has to know where he is, and what behaviour is reasonable in
that context. Knowing one's position is important in figuring out how to
get to a specific other place.
- I shall explore this concept with a simple demo / example
- We shall explore how a predator might chase a prey with or without
predicting the future.
- We shall lay out this scenario in simple diagrams, showing movement
and the path
- As for positioning, we are assuming some input from perception,
without going into details
At the moment we are just modelling the information content and some of the
processing required for action and perception.
