Section 2, Chapter 2, Follow the footsteps: a simple action of turning left on the stage
We shall explore this action as a sequence of action fragments. Let us
assume that the actor is standing straight, and now wants to turn left.
-
He puts all his weight on the right foot, so that the left foot is
slightly lifted and free.
-
He turns his left foot 30 degree turn to the left.
-
He then puts all his weight on the left foot, so that the right foot is
slightly lifted and free.
-
He then rotates his hip counter-clockwise about the left foot, so that the
feet and the hip are at right angles again.
-
He then continues rotating his hip counter clockwise about the left foot, so
that the left foot is turned 30 degrees clockwise toward the right foot. The
right foot and the hip are still at right angles.
-
He turns his right foot 30 degree to the left (counter-clockwise).
-
He puts all his weight on the right foot, so that the left foot is
slightly lifted and free.
-
He turns the left foot 30 degrees to the left (counter-clockwise), to have it parallel to the right foot.
-
He then rotates his hip counter-clockwise about the right foot, so that both
feet and the hip are at right angles.
-
He then puts some of his weight back on the left foot, to evenly distribute his weight between the two feet.
At this point the actor has turned 90 degrees to the left.
